Distance cycled: 50km
I was all set to cycle up to Rathmullan to get the ferry to Buncrana, I'd
checked the sailing times on the internet and then just before I
left I bumped into a couple of cyclists. They informed me they'd
just come from there and sailings for the year had ceased 3 days
prior. Lucky for me since it was well out of the way and lashing
rain. So instead I had another scone and hung out these thatched cottages before cycling to Derry via
Letterkenny.
Some of my best and toughest cycling so far was through Glenveagh National Park where you pass Mount
Errigal, the tallest peak of the Derryveagh Mountains at 2464 ft.
It was so windy at the top I could hardly hold the bike up but the
downhill on the other side lasted for 18 minutes of no
pedalling.... sweet!
